Governance

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

Woodkirk enjoys a fantastic reputation, both in Leeds and the surrounding district. We are about people - students, staff, both teaching and non-teaching, parents and governors - and in this regard we are second to none. No other school can match the commitment, ethos and atmosphere of Woodkirk. This is a brilliant place to grow up and mature, to learn, to play and to work.

THE PURPOSE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNING BOARD

Woodkirk Academy is part of Leodis Academies Trust.  The Trust Board is the Governing Board for all Academies within the Trust.  Please click here to view Trust documents, including the Scheme of Delegation.

The Woodkirk Academy Local Governing Board work closely with the Principal, school staff and other external agencies to make sure all Woodkirk students get the best possible education.  The bringing together of Governors with different backgrounds, experience and interests provides a wide range of skills that benefit the Academy.

While no individual Governor has the authority to act alone there are opportunities to contribute in areas of particular interest, for example linking to a specific area of the curriculum.  Being a Governor is challenging, but rewarding.  Governors must be committed and willing to give up their time to attend meetings and visit departments.
